The Position
The Construction Project Engineer supports the planning and coordinating of activities of designated commercial and/or agricultural construction projects to ensure project goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
Essential Duties
- Focus on meeting and exceeding customer quality and communication expectations
- Build first class relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, and suppliers that reflect and support Marcus Construction's core values
- Provide technical oversight, review, and analysis of construction projects to ensure compliance with time, budget, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Review and approve specifications, designs, bids, contracts, drawings, change orders, and progress reports
- Monitor project progress; identify and assess strategies and solutions
- Facilitate collaboration among project stakeholders, including architects, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities
- Visibly support and uphold the company's strong safety culture
Position Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Construction Management OR
- 3+ years of work experience in a commercial construction project coordinator/manager role
- Demonstrated working knowledge of commercial/industrial construction processes (RFIs, submittals, change orders, etc.)
- Strong organization, judgment, attention to detail and decision-making abilities
- Well versed in the construction management process: pre-construction; construction and close-out
- Strong computer and technology skills
- Experience with ProCore Project Management, MS Excel, Scheduling, Bluebeam, and Acumatica software is a plus
- Able to travel throughout the US and Canada
- Possess a valid driver's license and current proof of insurance
Physical Demands/Working Environment: The physical demands listed here are representative of those needed to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Position involves sitting at a computer, standing, and walking for extended periods of time. Employee must be able to communicate effectively in a typical office environment with a standard level of office noise, as well as during job site visits with potentially higher noise levels.
Work requires visits to construction job sites which may expose the employee to dirt, dust, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme temperatures. In addition, employee must be able to move around prospective or current project sites. This includes climbing ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, walking long distances, climbing stairs, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Job sites potentially expose employees to higher noise levels as well.
