Job Summary

The Nurse Clinical Research II will integrate theoretical knowledge with clinical experience in the evaluations and treatments of study subjects along with the attending physician and/or Principal Investigator.

This position will function in a team lead role, and use their knowledge of nursing practice and ability to comprehend significant elements based upon previous experience.

Essential duties of this position include, but are not limited to, assist with identification and recruitment of research patients, as well as assess, plan, implement and evaluate research related activities while understanding patient medical problems.

Data management and documentation related to research subjects and studies will also be important job functions, and this position will ensure the study maintains documentation, and that appropriate team review, ethical approval and study activation is undertaken before patient recruitment begins.

Furthermore, this position will evaluate completed case report forms and documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance to protocol.

The successful candidate will be expected to ensure compliance with University of Kentucky policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local regulations.

In addition, the Nurse Clinical Research II will act as a liaison between research program and medical center departments, Principal Investigator, sponsor and monitors, as well as evaluate the clinical performance of colleagues for whom they have been delegated responsibility.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

The ideal candidate must be customer service oriented and have effective time management, planning and organizational, attention to detail, observation, decision making and analytical skills.

This individual must be a team player and possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with a strong respect for diversity, high emotional intelligence and confidentiality.

In addition, we are looking for experience with Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of clinical trial standards.
