We are seeking CATV Field Sweep Technicians to provide troubleshooting, preventative maintenance recommendations, coax splicing, installation, activation, and repair of HFC distribution systems.ResponsibilitiesAssess OSP hardware and infrastructure including but not limited to plant documentation, Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) active and passives, reading and understanding OSP diagrams/drawings, taking and maintaining accurate field notes, operation of a bucket truck, accessing network enclosures and nodes and operation of testing gear.The workload is evenly split between hardline coax splicing, sweep and activation tasks, each comprising of 50% of the job.Correct customer network failures and improve overall network performance using sweep gear and CATV test equipment.Diagnose and repair plant related issues to reduce upstream noise and forward path impairments within the cable system with the use of standard OSP tools to include OTDR's, TDR's, light meters, and signal strength meters.Must have experience with production upgrades within a CATV OSP (Outside Plant) environment and be proficient in troubleshooting.General understanding of an HFC headend combining, optics (forward and return), and basic understanding of CMTS, FTTX, and ISP.Consulting background and experience working with multiple customers is preferred.Additional informationApproximately 75% nationwide travel is required, typically 14 days on-site, travel days, and 5 days off at home.
