Job responsibilities include:
- Plan and lead lab-based science instruction for students in Seventh and Eighth Grades, focusing on Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Environmental Science, and experimentation skills
- Develop assessments, evaluate, and track student progress
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Maintain communication with parents about student progress, including through parent-teacher conferences, report cards, and portfolio conferences
- Plan and lead advisory meetings with a group of 8-12 students, and partner with grade-level co-advisors for advisory curricula
- Chaperone field trips, including possible overnight trips
- Knowledge of current research and best practices in brain-based teaching and learning
- Experience with the Responsive Classroom or Developmental Designs approach and project-based curriculum and assessments are a plus
Minimum Requirements:
- 2+ years teaching middle school science, preferably in an independent school setting
