Our Opportunity:

We are looking for a Software Development Manager at our facility in Boston, MA, to lead Chewy's Pricing Platform with exposure to across the entire business, influencing the vision and implementation of architecture, design and features for this critical business line.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead a team of strong engineers building services for Chewy's Pricing platform.
  • Manage agile software development projects of varying size and complexity from inception to completion. Innovate processes, reporting, and align development strategies to support Chewy's explosive growth.
  • Build a scalable Pricing platform that can power millions of hits per day that is extremely fault tolerant and performs at an e-commerce scale.
  • Manage/Lead a team of software engineers in our platform's development, testing, and deployment, facilitate the agile process, and remove impediments.
  • Partner with our recruiting team to continue to build your team and mentor the growth of the existing team.
  • Drive technical decisions and work with your product owner to manage a backlog to support multiple teams within the Chewy Software Engineering Organization.
  • Establish strong working relationships at all organizational levels and across functional teams.
  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of scalable environments for development and testing.
  • Review architecture, design, and implementations, provide feedback for individual contributors.
  • Manage priorities within the context of overall corporate objectives.
  • Work with others in Engineering Management to drive the best software development, testing, and production deployment practices.
  • Iterate quickly in an agile development process.
  • Create a dynamic, collaborative, and fun team environment.
  • Engage team in conferences and external activities that facilitate staying abreast of the latest cutting-edge technologies and approaches.
  • Telecommuting permitted 3 days per week.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field and 8 years of experience;
  • Experience must include 8 years of experience in Software Development as a Software Engineer or Technical Program Manager;
  • Experience must also include the following: implementing and managing significant software development projects;
  • Fluency in 1 or more programming languages and database technologies;
  • Delivery experience working under an Agile/Scrum methodology;
  • Technical project management;
  • Communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements;
  • Agile experience as a Scrum Master or Product Owner;
  • Identifying and mitigating development and implementation risks;
  • Atlassian suite of tools, including Jira, Bamboo, and Confluence;
  • Working in Agile teams and experience with software development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban;
  • Tableau;
  • Python;
  • Shell;
  • Confluence, JIRA, and SharePoint;
  • GitHub;
  • Validating, refining, and reviewing technical designs;
  • Functional programming; and
  • Object oriented programming principles.
  • Telecommuting permitted 3 days per week.
