Job Summary and Qualifications

The Trauma Performance Improvement (PI) Coordinator works with trauma program leadership to coordinate all aspects of the department's Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) Program. The PI Coordinator will review the continuum of care to determine compliance with practice management guidelines, policies and procedures, and established standards of care.

What you will do in this role:

  • Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Plan.
  • Maintain the Trauma PI database to ensure adequate documentation as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Complete concurrent review of cases to identify quality, timelines and systems of care to meet state standards.
  • Participate in hospital education programs for nurses and resident physicians caring for trauma patients.
  • Serve as a liaison to the clinical areas responsible for trauma patients.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary monthly Trauma Systems & Operations Committee and Peer Review meetings.
What qualifications you will need:

Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Preferred Education: Master's in Nursing or Masters in related healthcare field

Required License/Certifications: Must have and maintain current licensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact) license may apply, licensee should confirm with NCBON. National Nursing Certification in area of specialty (critical care, emergency)

Required Experience: 3-5 years acute clinical experience

Preferred Experience: 1 year of clinical experience specific to trauma care. 1 year of EMS experience. Computer skills including proficiency in data entry, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. Certified Instructor for TNCC

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
