Position Summary:
The University of Dayton's Bombeck Center invites qualified applicants to apply for our Early Childhood Educator IV opening This is a full time benefit eligible position that offers health, dental and vision insurance, retirement, disability, tuition assistance for you and your dependents, vacation/sick accrual and holiday pay.

Early Childhood educator IVs (ECEIV) work with their educational team to provide high quality early care and education for infants, toddlers or preschoolers. . They demonstrate an understanding of the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct and Position on Developmentally Appropriate Practices incorporate both consistently. ECEIVs engage in collaborative planning and critical reflection to maintain a classroom where the environment, curriculum and responsive interactions are intentional and based on the most current research of the field. They provide a positive climate for children, families, early childhood students, team members and center staff. They create an environment where differences are valued and a growth mindset is expected.

All members of the teaching team actively engage children and maintain classroom organization and routines using play-based and child-centered pedagogies. ECEIVs are responsible for creating a collaborative learning community where team members understand their roles and responsibilities, plan together, and reflect on practice to ensure that there is a common classroom philosophy. While team member contribute, the ECEIV ensures that the ACCESS Curriculum is being implemented with fidelity and that planning documents are submitted in a timely manner. ECEIVs are also responsible for ensuring that the assessment system is being implemented which includes maintaining the children's portfolios, documentation boards and the whole class tracking system. ECEIVs compile data, work with administration and the teaching team to handle challenging situations, design interventions, make referrals and when needed, handle difficult conversations with families.

Minimum Qualifications:
Holds a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Leadership and Advocacy or related field focused on young children
Has at least 1 year of teaching experience with infants, toddlers or preschoolers
Understanding of child-care licensing requirements and safety protocols
Understanding of developmentally appropriate practice that is child-centered and play-based
Understanding of Quality Rating and Improvement Systems (QRIS) such as Step up to Quality
Respects individual differences in children, families and peers
Understanding of the collaboration skills needed to work effectively as part of an educational team
Understanding of culturally responsive practice with children, families and peers
The ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
High level of professionalism
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google mail, docs, and forms and social media tools

Preferred Qualifications:
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Has more than 1 year teaching experience with infants, toddlers and/or preschoolers
Has experience teaching an integrated, project-based, emergent and STEM curriculum
Has experience with Reflective Supervision and/or other mentoring or coaching models
Has experience with online communication and record keeping tools such as Moment Path
