Position Overview

As an Assistant Educator at Primrose School of Centerville, you will play a crucial role in nurturing young learners as they explore and understand their surroundings.

We are in search of a dedicated and passionate Assistant Educator to become a vital part of our engaging Pre-Kindergarten team.

The Assistant Educator will assist in the design and execution of a continuous program of activities that foster the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth of each child, in alignment with the Primrose Balanced Learning philosophy.

Primrose School of Centerville is a recognized private preschool that offers an exceptional educational childcare experience. We provide year-round programs for children ranging from infants to elementary school age.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily operations and supervision of a group of children.
  • Adhere to all regulations and guidelines set forth by Primrose School of Centerville and relevant local, state, or national agencies regarding child health, safety, and care.
  • Continuously evaluate each child's developmental requirements.
  • Execute the approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedule in accordance with the Primrose Balanced Learning curriculum.
  • Support the Lead Educator and collaborate with the Leadership Team in organizing parent-teacher conferences and student assessments.
  • Maintain an inviting and well-organized classroom that encourages creativity, exploration, and confident decision-making among children.
  • Provide positive reinforcement and clear expectations for children's behavior.
  • Take responsibility for the upkeep and necessary cleaning of the classroom, shared areas, and playgrounds.
  • Participate in all mandatory staff meetings, workshops, and school events.
  • Uphold a professional appearance in line with the standards outlined in the Primrose School of Centerville Employee Handbook.
  • Assist in additional tasks as determined necessary by the Leadership Team.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Must meet the basic requirements set by the local childcare regulatory agency.
  • Previous experience in a teaching or assistant teaching role within a licensed early childhood program is preferred.
  • Understanding of the social, emotional, and creative needs of young children.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. for the safe handling of children during program facilitation, safety measures, and emergency situations.
  • For Infant - Preschool Educators: A 2-year degree in early childhood education or a related field is preferred.
  • For Pre-Kindergarten Educators: A 4-year degree in early childhood education or a related field is preferred.
  • For Kindergarten Educators: A 4-year degree in early childhood education and certification to teach in the respective state is required.
