The Department of Neurosurgery is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff.

Providing the best patient care available is the core of our mission, and is true for all our neurosurgical subspecialties including spine surgery, neuro-oncology (brain and spine tumors), skull base surgery, cerebrovascular and endovascular surgery (such as stroke or aneurysms), functional neurosurgery (such as for epilepsy or Parkinson's disease), peripheral nerve surgery, neurotrauma and neurosurgical critical care, and pediatric neurosurgery in affiliation with our Cincinnati Children's Hospital.


The University of Cincinnati Department of Neurosurgery is seeking a board certified/board eligible Functional + Epilepsy trained neurosurgeon to facilitate subspecialty program growth, increase patient access and be a contributing educator for neurosurgery's residency program.

The rank of appointment (Assistant/Associate) is open and will be commensurate with the experience and professional accomplishments of the selected applicant.

They would join an already existing Functional division within a comprehensive department covering all subspecialty areas including complex spine, endovascular, neuro-oncology, neurotrauma, and skull-base neurosurgery.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct and teach assigned undergraduate and/or graduate level courses and seminars.
  • Attend meetings, participate in governance, prepare materials for teaching.
  • Evaluate and develop curriculum for department and/or college.
  • Serve as an academic adviser for students and evaluate student coursework.
  • Serve on college or university committees and participate in curriculum development activities.
  • Serve on graduate committees, supervise laboratories (where appropriate), independent study activities, and off campus learning.
  • Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of his or her responsibilities.
  • Render service to the professional or lay community which is relevant to the individual's academic specialty.
  • Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University related communications.
Minimum Requirements

Must have all of the following prior to effective date of appointment:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO).
  • Licensure by the State of Ohio Medical Board.
  • Completion of a 7 year accredited Neurosurgery residency.
