The City of Virginia, Minnesota is taking applications for a full-time permanent MECHANIC.

This position performs skilled and semi-skilled work maintaining all types of City vehicles and equipment from golf carts, lawn mowers, vehicles, loaders, dump trucks, and much more.

Minimum qualifications include graduate of a two (2) year course in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles and equipment from an accredited Technical college; and at least two (2) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of automobiles, light trucks, trucks, loaders, graders, pumps, compressors, hand equipment, etc.

including diesel/gasoline engines and mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components. We will consider experience and/or combination of both to meet requirements.

Preferred qualifications include ASE Certification in at least three (3) divisions of vehicle maintenance repair preferred, fabrication/welding experience, and current valid Minnesota Class B, CDL Driver s license with Tanker endorsement; and Certified DOT Truck Inspector.

Excellent benefits are provided including medical, dental, and life insurance, exceptional retirement benefits through Public Employees Retirement Plan (PERA), with hourly wage of $28.85 per hour during six month probation; then $32.05 per hour for 2024.
