The Quality Technician position oversees and monitors the inspection and testing of materials, parts, and products to ensure adherence to established company quality standards, the ASME code and customer contract requirements. The Quality Inspector is responsible for establishing inspection/testing priorities in accordance with production schedules to ensure maximum usage of assigned resources.

About the position:

This position acts as a liaison between all personnel, departments, and management to facilitate the efficient & effective implementation of quality requirements. The Quality position has a broad range of responsibilities to support the following:

  • Conducts himself/herself in a considerate, professional, cooperative and helpful manner toward fellow employees, customers, vendors and visitors.
  • Follows all safety policies and company-wide safety requirements; encourages action assuring safe behavior; confronts unsafe behavior and conditions proactively and positively.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures.
  • Assesses the production area for quality and product integrity by performing evaluations and tests for quality according to customer, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • Documents all evaluation results.
  • Identifies any products that do not meet the required specifications. Analyzes results to determine reasons for failure and reports to the Supervisor and appropriate Lead to determine a solution as rapidly as possible.
  • Evaluates products as required or specified, using appropriate equipment for such details as, weight, hardness, disintegration, and thickness. Continues evaluations during production process to be sure that the product continues to meet requirements.
  • Checks that all equipment used for Quality Assurance meet specifications. Verifies that all equipment is properly calibrated and calibrates when needed.
  • Helps and instructs Leads on production, following established regulations set by the company and regulatory agencies/authorities.
  • Monitors and audits manufacturing activities for conformance to company and regulatory policies.
  • Notifies Supervisor and Lead when significant departures from requirements occur.

What you know:

High school diploma or GED required; college or technical school degree preferred and 3+ years' experience in Heat Exchange Manufacturing Quality Control environment or a combination of education and experience required, to include the following:

  • Communication: Ability to process verbal and written information quickly using solution-solving vocabulary to resolve conflicts.
  • Deadline driven: Has a sense of urgency, is proactive, possessing excellent interpersonal skills, a professional attitude, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • The ability to prioritize situations and tasks by importance.
  • Attention to detail, and the ability to respond to rapidly changing priorities and deal with multiple demands, good organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Basic computer skills. (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).

Physical & Environmental Factors

Physical Requirements (lifting, climbing, standing, equipment and/or motor vehicle use):

  • Job requires walking 60% of workday.
  • Must be able to lift 45 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (Steel toe boots, safety glasses, and ear plugs)

Environmental Factors (hazardous materials, work location, work surfaces, exposure):

  • Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical and electrical parts. The noise level in the work environment is often loud.
