Duties
  • You will serve as the Environmental and Safety Manager for Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division, Dam Neck Activity (NSWCDD DNA) and will report directly to Infrastructure Division Head.
  • You will work with the Facilities Manager in execution of the overall management of NSWCDD DNA's environmental and safety programs.
  • You will provide consultation and recommendations for strategies and practices that mitigate or limit environmental and safety concerns and risks.

  • You will perform, monitor, and/or conduct required assessments, inspections, investigations, reviews, procedure validation and record keeping in support of the environmental and safety program.
  • You will participate in Boards, Committees, Teams, Groups, and Communities of Practice.
  • You will interact with internal customers and external stakeholders/regulators/contractors.
  • You will assist the Facilities team with day to day operations to include material ordering and tracking, requesting and tracking project status, and updating dashboards and metrics.

      Qualifications

      Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-03 (GS-09/10 equivalency), in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Analyzing operating processes or procedures, working conditions, mishaps or hazardous conditions in order to analyze and review the implementation of an environmental occupational health safety program for a ship maintenance or industrial organization.

      Education

      In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

      Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.

      -OR-

      Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.

      Successful completion of an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled.

      -OR-

      A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
