Organizer for Immigrant Justice in Northern Nevada

Make the Road Nevada (MRNV) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering immigrant communities throughout Nevada. Our mission is to build a robust grassroots movement that amplifies the voices of working-class immigrants and addresses critical issues affecting their lives.
As part of our commitment to social justice, we are seeking a dedicated Northern Nevada Immigrant Justice Organizer. This role focuses on mobilizing low-income and immigrant community members to engage in collective actions aimed at advancing their rights and improving their living conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Community Organizing: Lead efforts to recruit and engage new members, fostering a sense of community and activism.
- Campaign Development: Create and implement both short-term and long-term strategies for immigration-related campaigns, collaborating closely with the organizing team.
- Relationship Management: Maintain positive relationships with internal teams and external partners to support our mission.
- Outreach Coordination: Organize and facilitate meetings and events that promote civic engagement and leadership among members.
- Data Management: Track and analyze campaign metrics to inform future strategies and ensure accountability.
- Field Activities: Participate in phone banking, canvassing, and other outreach efforts to strengthen community ties.
Member Engagement:
- Recruit and mobilize community members to actively participate in our initiatives.
- Collaborate with the organizing team to plan and execute membership meetings.
- Develop and deliver training sessions to empower members in leadership roles.
Public Advocacy:
- Represent MRNV in coalition meetings and advocate for our members' interests with elected officials.
- Support civic engagement efforts to ensure member voices are heard in public forums.
Qualifications:
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required.
- At least one year of experience in community organizing or program management.
- Strong commitment to social justice, particularly in the realm of immigration.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is essential.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
