Housekeeping Utility Worker - Temporary
· Work from work orders, written or verbal instructions.
· Strip and wax floors, move furniture, set up dorm rooms and shampoo carpets.
· May need to complete maintenance and repair duties including replacement or carpentry repair of windows, doors, screens, routine construction of shelves, framing, masonry repairs of steps, landings railings, footings, walls, lightbulbs, repairs to ceilings, floors and other similar general repair duties.
· Inspect assigned facilities, detecting, correcting and reporting any deficiencies to supervisor.
· Use a variety of hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments.
· Participate in the setup, breakdown and cleaning as necessary of university activities and events.
· Use brushes, rollers, spray painting equipment, ladders.
· Prepare surfaces, sand, apply fillers to achieve desired surface conditions.
· Prepare paints, stains and lacquers using standard color matches.
· Apply to walls, trim and other standard surfaces.
· Report unusual conditions or work performed to supervisor.
· Follow all safety rules and practices.
· Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition.
· Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors
· Participate in a rotational on-call schedule – on-call duties last for one week (Friday – Thursday) and consist of monitoring any emergency facility calls that are issued by Public Safety.
Position Requirements:
The ability to work on feet for long periods of time. Considerable walking is also required.
The ability to lift at least 100 pounds consistently is required.
