Peer Writing Tutor

Position Overview: Peer Writing Tutors provide tutoring to individual students and groups of students in person and virtually. Peer Writing Tutors assist students in improving academic performance through writing skills development in mechanics of writing, grammar, citations, and more. Peer Writing Tutors model techniques, strategies, attitudes, and beliefs contributing to student success.

Essential Duties:
  • Tutor students on effective academic writing, and/or general study skills, organization, and time management. Peer Writing Tutors support students through individual or group-based tutoring sessions, both in person and online.
  • Show up to scheduled shift/session on time and provide updated availability information. Respond to emails and tutor requests within 24 hours and develop a tutoring schedule with clients.
  • Work cooperatively with students, other tutoring staff, and faculty.
  • Complete required training and maintain accurate records of hours and services provided.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Work Experience
  • Required or preferred work experience based on job requirements and consistent with business needs is indicated below:
  • Expertise in academic writing skills and writing assignments.
  • Passionate about helping others learn and have an appreciation for different learning styles and abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, excellent listening skills, reliable, professional, responsible, resourceful, and able to "meet students where they're at."
  • Positive and supportive nature.

Pay Range: $15.57 per hour
