The Product Analyst (PA) works within Information Media & Technology (IMT) and with various departments to ensure requirements are thoroughly documented for the University's EdTech products. This role is critical for facilitating the development and innovation of our in-house EdTech products for our users (students, faculty, and staff).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research
    • Lead research efforts to better understand how users engage with the product and their pain points, including: in-depth interviews, contributing towards data analysis, facilitating surveys, landscape reviews, and usability studies.
    • Summarize and share research findings with the product team, identifying high value efforts to pursue and the impact of previous releases and product decisions.
    • Translate research findings into comprehensive user stories and product requirements that inform development and UX designs.
    • Stay current with the latest trends and thought leadership in the EdTech field, identifying process or technology opportunities to leverage that could provide value to our users and the University.
  • User Engagement
    • Organize and support user focus groups, including recruiting and onboarding new members and facilitating and documenting sessions.
    • Managing digital communities, engaging directly with user requests and creating content for Product Spaces on Full Sail One.
    • Collaborate with other teams within and outside IMT in support of cross-platform technical designs and integrations.
    • Build strong user relationships, foster collaboration, and promote open communication channels.
    • Create communication plans to engage users and solicit product ideas.
  • Documentation
    • Manage and update product backlogs and roadmaps in collaboration with product team, as needed.
    • Author release stories and notes to keep the Full Sail community informed of updates to the products.
    • Write technical specifications to aid Developers and Quality Assurance in building and testing approved functionality for the products.
    • Create operating instructions, manuals, "frequently asked questions" guides, and training videos to support users.
    • Blend text, graphics, video, multimedia, etc. for documentation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Competencies:

  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills for presentations and documentation
  • Communicate complex information to people with diverse professional backgrounds
  • Technical writing skills for specifications, and with guidance, documenting internal applications, such as API's and data formats
  • Independently manage many small and important projects at the same time
  • Proactively organize update supporting documentation (e.g. in-app guides, knowledge base articles, etc.) for products
  • Participatory approach to cross-functional teamwork and collaboration
  • Critically analyze and capture user insights from interviews and surveys as user stories
  • Understanding of business process planning, modeling, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile/Waterfall methodologies
  • Assess product samples and discuss nuances with product designers and developers

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree
  • 2-3 years of working on a product team, managing user relations, and documentation experience

Computer/Equipment Skills:

  • Technical knowledge of web, mobile, and cloud development processes and UI/UX design
  • Knowledge of desktop and mobile environments
  • Knowledge of wireframing and HTML/CSS preferred
  • Good grasp on multimedia documentation tools and techniques
