The Associate Attorney, Business and Legal Affairs position supporting Hasbro Entertainment presents an exciting opportunity for an individual who demonstrates exceptional work behaviors and legal experience to join our world-class team The successful candidate will ideally have industry experience and an ability to deal with various deadlines, across multiple jurisdictions and projects.


A Day in the life:

  • Draft motion picture related development and production agreements, including acquisition (literary material option/purchase, assignment, life rights, etc.)
ad ATL and BTL (writer, director, producer, actor, crew, etc.) agreements.

  • Assist in the negotiate of option and writer agreements.
  • Prepare deal summaries for completed deals and update/maintain each project's ATL deal summary and chain of title charts.
  • Research and prepare summaries of deal related questions from BLA, AP and creative.
  • Support in the preparation of literary material copyright registrations with the USCO.
  • Assist with rights management.
  • Assist in the oversight of active feature film productions.
  • Support with structuring of film financings, including assessment of any financially beneficial foreign jurisdictions and co production treaties.
  • Assist in the principal commercial negotiations for rights acquisitions and Hasbro's potential investment in each project.
  • Participate in the negotiations for the production banking arrangements as well as draft, review and negotiate the resulting documentation and supervision of the ongoing performance of such facilities.
  • Analyze and conduct due diligence on local law subsidies and tax credits.
  • Various special projects and other work as required to support the North American Film Legal team

What You'll Bring:

  • Qualified media or entertainment lawyer with 2 5 years with professional legal training completed in California (or similar jurisdiction) or a business affairs executive with equivalent prior experience working in business and legal affairs in the film and/or television industry
  • Substantial experience in the field of intellectual property law, licensing and distribution (drafting and negotiation) and excellent legal skills;
  • Familiarity with a variety of commercial media agreements (copyright licenses, rights assignments, sales agency agreements, etc.)
  • In house experience;
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines;
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills (including to non legal departments);
  • Good negotiation techniques with a commercial, problem solving and collaborative approach;
  • Ability to manage high volume of work across many projects and time zones and ability to multi task
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office Suite.

Compensation Range, Currency USD:

  • Starting Pay Range: $80,480
  • Pay Range End: $152,520
