Waldorf School of the Peninsula (Nursery - Grade 12) is celebrating its 40th year of bringing Waldorf education to Northern California. Our school has two beautiful campuses: Nursery through grade 5 in Los Altos and a few miles away in Mountain View are grades 6-12. We are seeking a Middle School Band Teacher for the school year.

As the Band Teacher, you will foster community, musicianship, and a love of music within our students. You view each child as an individual, working to grow and bring out their best in order to support their own realization of their musical potential. In addition to planning each class, you are also responsible for planning the music & directing the Band for our Winter and Spring Concerts.

Waldorf School of the Peninsula has a solid music program that begins in 3rd Grade and continues through High School. Our program is unique, as every student participates in instrumental music ensembles.

The ideal candidate has experience working with Middle School students, has a background in teaching & performing, and views this teaching opportunity as a long-term commitment. This is a part-time, hourly position.

Experience teaching music in a Waldorf setting is an advantage. A BA in Music or Music Education or a related field is highly desirable. Teaching experience at the Middle School level is required, as are the following skills: building collaborative relationships with parents and colleagues, excellent verbal and written communication, cultural competence, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of professional engagement.

Must complete DOJ and FBI live-scan fingerprinting and a negative TB test prior to the start of service . The position is compensated at $59.50 for teaching, and $30.25 per hour for non teaching responsibilities.
