Overview

The Convenience Store Manager, under the direction of the Food and Beverage General Manager, ensures the successful and profitable operation of the on-campus convenience store. Responsibilities include staffing the store, training associates, maintaining world class standards for customer service, ensures that store is clean, well maintained and professionally merchandised and complies with organizational policies and procedures. The manager maintains proper financial reports, inventory levels and tracking and fosters a coaching environment where team members want to excel and are recognized for their achievements.

This role pays a yearly wage of $55,000 to $60,000.

Responsibilities

Customer Service

. Provides friendly customer service by greeting and assisting customers and responding to customer inquiries and concerns.

· Serves customers by maintaining our OVG philosophy, supported by a value proposition that every experience will be fast and friendly.

· Maintains 100% in-stock excellence on top selling items.

· Ensures team members are knowledgeable on product offerings and promotions.

Drive Sales

· Develop merchandising strategies to increase sales, expand markets, and promote business.

· Plans and implements marketing campaigns and sales promotions and prepare merchandise displays.

· Monitors sales activities through POS analysis to identify product changes and enhancements.

· Examines merchandise to ensure that it is correctly priced and displayed.

Operations

· Drives sales and profits in a high volume, complex location.

· Analyzes financial data including but not limited to profit and loss statements, shortages, and cashier analysis to identify business opportunities and increase sales.

· Plans, implements, and enforces Company policies, goals, and programs.

· Ensures quality and consistent implementation of all marketing, merchandising, beverage and food programs while maintaining an awareness of safety, security and store appearance.

· Promotes technology utilization and improved efficiencies.

· Plans and prepares work schedules to provide the best possible level of customer service.

· Evaluate sales and purchasing data for the purpose of identifying purchasing patterns and acceptable cost of goods.

People

· Builds strong, sales focused teams through recruiting, hiring, training, and coaching.

· Delegates and supervises team members in all store responsibilities.

· Coaches team members on how to handle difficult and complicated situations.

Venue Business

· Assist the General Manager with the efficient, professional, and profitable operation of the entire venue.

· Manage venue team in the absence of the General Manager.

· Prepare required reports as needed/scheduled.

· Other tasks/projects as assigned by General Manager.

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum 3-5 years' experience managing and responsible for the operations of a retail convenient store.
  • The ideal team member will have demonstrated Store Manager leadership skills and competencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to use and understand P&L statements, sales reports, and POS data.
  • Previous P&L accountability and/or contract-managed service experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and POS Systems is required.
  • Strong commitment to delivering a high level of customer and client service with demonstrated initiative, leadership, and management skills.
  • Must be flexible to work extended hours due to business requirements including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Supervises all team members by assigning and directing work. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Store will be open seven days a week.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT

  • Some physical exertion required.
  • Lift and carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead multiple times a day.
  • Occasionally left and carry up to 60 pounds from ground to waist.
  • Grasp, reach and manipulate objects with hands. This handwork requires eye-hand coordination and may require climbing a ladder to store and retrieve materials or place and remove signs.
