Automation Engineer


At our Raleigh, NC, facility, we are looking for a Controls Engineer to join the Process & Manufacturing Controls team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, programming, and servicing automated control systems for various industrial clients.

You will work on designing and programming industrial process control systems, integrating new and existing hardware and software, troubleshooting, and repairing client control systems.

You will also program PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, Servos, and VFDs while following all UL 508A control panel construction and design requirements.

You will partner with the Sales team by providing labor estimates and controlling hardware costs for new projects while ensuring that NFPA 70E compliance is maintained.


Hard Skills:

  • PLC Programming
  • Troubleshooting PLCs
  • UL 508A certification is also essential for achieving compliance with local and national electrical codes. The standard's requirements ensure that the control panel complies with important safety regulations and helps prevent electrical hazards that can cause equipment damage and endanger lives

Soft Skills:

  • Capacity for prolonged standing or sitting without discomfort
  • Having the flexibility to travel to clients' nearby locations


The job type is a contractual basis that allows for transitioning to a permanent position after completing a 12-month tenure.


Work Environment:

  • A standard workweek typically operates from Monday to Friday with no work on weekends and 9-5 work hours.
  • Employees are typically expected to work for 40 hours per week, and any additional time requires an overtime pay rate.
  • Our principal concern is our most significant client, although there is considerable growth in Raleigh. Four significant projects are planned for the year that are not related to our main client. In the long term, we will need an individual willing to travel to local client sites in Raleigh. The responsibilities include overseeing updates to existing systems, new conveyor systems, packaging lines, and providing overall plant support. The work will be hybrid and on-site with deployment to North Carolina job sites possibly surpassing 100%. Travel demands are not expected to surpass 20%. Lastly, the candidate must have the capacity to stand or sit for extended periods.
