Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix is a 766–bed Magnet recognized, ACS verified, and state certified Level 1 Trauma Center (adult care only).The division is a dynamic environment with 10 division faculty, 7 Advanced Practice Providers, and a very busy and growing Trauma and Critical Care program. It offers comprehensive and multi–disciplinary surgical and medical care for our patients, and our staff strives to provide the best in patient care, resident and medical student education, and academic endeavors. Our surgeons and specialists have access to some of the newest medical technologies and most advanced treatment techniques available.

The Division is seeking an accomplished and highly motivated Trauma Surgeon with expertise in leading, developing and conducting research, with special interest in the trauma program, surgical critical care fellowship, and research development. The candidate must also possess excellent communication skills and work well in a multidisciplinary team environment.

The candidate will provide care for patients that have a traumatic injury or acute care surgical issue, manage critically ill patients and help support outpatient and elective surgical care.

The selected individual will hold a faculty appointment (from the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix) that is consistent with their credentials and will instruct fellows, residents and medical students.

Work Schedule: Full–Time

Minimum Qualifications:

Fellowship training in Acute Care/Trauma Surgery BC or BE in surgery & surgical critical careEligible for an unrestricted license Experience or residency/fellowship training in Robotic/MIS is preferred. Participate in Emergency and Trauma surgery call concurrently & backup call coverage as needed.Provide coverage in the surgical ICU at least one week in a quarter.Established expertise in working with diverse patient populations.Evidence of clinical, scholarly, and teaching ability.Qualified candidate should have a history of publications and be an active member of professional societies.Academic experience and teaching or clinical excellence awards a plus. ATLS Instructor qualifications and teaching background required.Applicants with a history of clinical research and publications within the last 3 years preferred.
