DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Executive Director of Development (EDOD), School of Biological Sciences, the Development Associate will provide confidential research, analysis and analytical support for Biological Sciences development team. Duties include research of various topics relevant to work with alumni, prospects and other key external constituencies; review, process and reconcile fiscal entries and reports and partner with the EDOD to monitor unit operational budget; prepare synopses and summaries for University Development and Biological Sciences leadership; draft, edit and proofread correspondence, briefings and reports for prospects, donors and campus leaders; and update and maintain Advancement CRM with timely information on behalf of the unit team. Responsible for independent problem-solving and performing duties with excellent customer service and attention to detail in a fast-paced, highly-collaborative office, demonstrating utmost courtesy, confidentiality and an accountable approach to accomplishing work. Assist with planning high-level meetings and visits including prospects, donors, volunteers and campus leaders and prepare meeting and briefing materials.

Implements noncomplex programs, events and/or communication strategies designed to inform key constituencies of institutional programs, activities, policies, and practices.

  • Occasional overtime may be required, including evenings and weekends as workload demands. QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduation from college with study in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of basic concepts and principles of building and maintaining effective relations with a variety of alumni and other key constituencies.
  • Written, verbal and interpersonal skills, including tact and political acumen to effectively represent the institution. Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one or in group settings, taking into account differences in social, cultural, professional and educational backgrounds.
  • Organizational skills including skill to meet prescribed deadlines; event planning skills. Skill in project management and accountability to meet deadlines. Strong organizational and time management skills. Detail oriented with demonstrated ability to set priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and respect issues of a sensitive or donor confidentiality. Demonstrated integrity, dependability, sound judgment, diplomacy and resourcefulness, with a strong work ethic.
