About the College

The College of Arts & Sciences is composed of 15 departments, offering a wide variety of courses and programs in the humanities, social and behavioral sciences, mathematics, physical sciences, and natural sciences. About the Department/School/Area

The Department of Biological Sciences [link] is a community of faculty, students, and staff committed to teaching and training students, producing innovative research that advances basic and applied sciences, and engaging with the public. As one of the largest programs within the College of Arts and Sciences, we offer three undergraduate degrees to more than 1300 students, and three MS degrees and a doctoral degree to approximately 125 graduate student trainees. Our 45 faculty conduct cutting-edge research across all levels of biology, spanning from how we as individuals learn and teach about biology to the cells, systems, and organisms that make up our global biosphere. We serve students through online and face-to-face learning and research opportunities.

Major/Essential Functions

In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.

Applicants are expected to:
Engage in the advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship
Develop and deliver an up-to-date curriculum related to specialty in global change and rotate into teaching introductory and mid-level biology classes
Publish in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals
Present research at scientific meetings
Submit grant proposals to external competitive funding agencies
Provide individual support, feedback, and advice to undergraduate and graduate students
Perform service activities from local to professional levels

A PhD or comparable terminal degree in biology or a field related to global change biology by start date
A record of peer-reviewed research in global change biology
Commitment to teach both general biology courses and specialized courses within global change biology
