About This Role

The R&D Program Planner will be part of the department of Program Management, Portfolio Technology and will be responsible for creating and managing complex integrated timelines in Biogen's Planisware portfolio planning tool, across a portfolio of programs at all stages of the drug discovery, development, and market continuum. The role will be a technical expert with knowledge of key milestones, their sequence, and dependencies, able to partner with program leaders, project managers and function team leads to create integrated program plans and then work to ensure milestone and activity dates and durations are kept updated. They will also create other scenario plans in the system as the program team strategy evolves. This role also collaborates closely with peers on the Portfolio Technology team around resource demand forecasting, financials, and portfolio metrics.

What You'll Do

  • Project set up & timeline creation for all the R&D functions in Planisware Clarity system, in partnership with the Program Lead, PM, and function leads
  • Management of clinical activities & milestones in Planisware, including collection of underlying data from clinical systems. This requires knowledge of all the functional plans, all clinical studies, and how they integrate to drive the program-level plan
  • Ensuring milestone & activity dates & durations are kept aligned and up to date in real time. Data quality here is critical to portfolio management and corporate decision-making
  • Ensure clear and transparent communication of timelines and key deliverables with program team representatives, Governance, R&D leadership, and Finance, via reporting tools. Partner with the portfolio analytics team to support scenario modeling efforts
  • Providing detailed reports & expertise needed to drive financial planning and decision-making
  • Support and possibly drive initiatives for continuous improvement in Planisware utilization for portfolio management at Biogen

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in sciences or engineering with 3+ years of experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting
  • Knowledge of and prior experience with Planisware or similar software
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of clinical development process
  • Data quality & QC knowledge
  • Prospective candidate must be able to perform this role in a US Hybrid based assignment either in Cambridge, MA or RTP, NC.
