POSITION SUMMARY:


This position will teach Early Learning Performing Arts for Pre-K3 through 4th Grade. The Early Learning arts curriculum at the Galloway School is an essential part of our vibrant Fine Arts program.


From PreK-3 through 4th grade, the Performing Arts Specialist will be responsible for teaching and training a dynamic group of students in a range of ages and development, ensuring that all students are engaged, motivated, and inspired. Through teaching the basic principles of Movement and Dramatic Play/Performance, you are expected to develop a scope and sequence of curriculum that will allow students to demonstrate personal growth as performers and express their creativity. This role will also help prepare students for public presentations, performances, and assemblies throughout the year. Additionally, the EL Performing Arts Specialist partners closely with other EL specialist faculty and classroom teachers to create meaningful, interdisciplinary opportunities for learning for students.


The Early Learning Performing Arts teacher will partner with other arts faculty to ensure a cohesive, collaborative curriculum that develops the foundation for skills taught in Middle Learning Dance and Theatre. Units throughout the year might touch on various Dance/Movement skills and Dramatic Performance skills such as storytelling, poetry, choreography, creative movement, yoga, costume character play, shape and tableau, and other performance- based classes determined by student need and candidate's skills and interests.


Overall, the EL Performing Arts teacher will cultivate an inviting and inspiring joyful creative space where any student can discover their creative potential, and all students feel respected and welcome.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities include and are not limited to:

Embody and advocate for the mission and vision of the school


Cultivate and celebrate the unique creative expression of each student


Teach performance-based lessons for Early Learning students


Prepare students for culminating public performances throughout the year


Collaborate closely with Fine Arts faculty, the Director of Fine Arts, EL Faculty members, and seek feedback in the spirit of continuous improvement


Participate in extracurricular activities, such as field trips or hosting guest artist experiences


Participate constructively and collaboratively in professional development, grade level, and department meetings


Maintain a safe, comfortable, and engaging classroom environment


Communicate with parents in an appropriate and timely manner


Other duties as assigned
