Position Overview
The Department of Speech and Hearing Science in the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with expertise in areas related to speech and hearing science and/or audiology starting August 15, 2025. Although candidates with expertise in any area related to hearing and balance will be considered, preference will be given to those with expertise in hearing aids, tinnitus, psychoacoustics, genetics, or vestibular/balance. However, all candidates who meet the qualifications listed below, including those with other areas of expertise, are encouraged to apply. Because research in speech and hearing science and audiology is inherently interdisciplinary, it is expected that the successful candidate will strengthen existing collaborations with other Ohio State colleges and departments (such as the College of Medicine, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, the Department of Psychology, the College of Engineering) that are relevant to the candidate's area of expertise. In addition to research productivity and seeking extramural funding, the Assistant Professor will be expected to contribute to the Department's teaching and service missions. They will have opportunities to teach courses in basic hearing sciences, as well as courses in more clinically applied areas associated with their area of expertise, and they will participate in service activities in the Department, College, and University.
Education and Experience Requirements
Required: Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in Speech and Hearing Science, Communication Disorders, or a related field. Clinical certification and licensure in audiology is not required. The successful candidate will have an emerging publication record and strong potential for federal funding (e.g., NIH, NSF).
Desired: Preference is given to candidates who possess prior experience in a research setting, including post-doctoral training, and evidence of potential as a strong teacher. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to building an inclusive intellectual community, in line with Ohio State's Shared Values.

Department Information
The Department of Speech and Hearing Science ) is positioned within the College of Arts and Sciences and the Division of the Social and Behavioral Sciences. It consists of 25 full-time faculty across the tenure, clinical, teaching, and research tracks. The Department has four main academic programs: the BA in Speech and Hearing Science, MA in Speech-Language Pathology, AuD in Audiology, and the PhD. The MA and AuD programs are ranked 14th and 9th by U.S. News and World Report. We seek colleagues who will help advance our mission through research and education.
