Duties
  • You will develop policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data.
  • You will conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks and protection needs.
  • You will conduct systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews.
  • You will develop and implement programs to ensure that systems, network and data users are aware of, understand and adhere to systems security policies, and procedures.
  • You will facilitate the gathering, analysis and preservation of evidence used in the prosecution of computer crimes.
  • You will ensure the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles and practices in the delivery of all IT services.
  • You will assess security events to determine impact and implementing corrective actions.
  • You will lead the day-to-day work of other Cybersecurity Specialists within your respective Program Office.
  • You will utilize the Risk Management Framework processes and procedures.

    • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M for specialty area 722 level Advanced within 12 months of appointment.
    • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.

      Qualifications

      Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying Information Technology principles and practices dealing with IT security methodology, analysis, and architecture in order to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability for offensive and defensive cyberspace operations.

      Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.

      1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Ability to analyze system design constraints, analyze trade-offs and detailed system and security design.

      2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Ability to interact with customers and groups to present organizational briefings to convey strategic vision or organizational policies.

      3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Ability to function in a collaborative environment, seeking continuous consultation with other analysts and experts-both internal and external to the organization-to leverage analytical and technical expertise.

      4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Ability to provide comprehensive risk assessment implementing actions to mitigate vulnerabilities.
