Health Informatics Specialist

Salary commensurate w/ training and experience

Exempt, non-civil service, full-time, temporary appointment. This position is responsible for planning, engaging, designing, prototyping, implementing, training, and delivering information products to the lines of business in public health. The position provides guidance and hands-on direction of informatics and analytics projects with programs and offices across the agency, to ensure proper business analysis, systems analysis, systems design, systems development and implementation focused on meeting the identified needs through the use of data. The scope of responsibility comprises analytics and data systems and associated vendor management for multiple organizational entities within an administration of the Department of Health. This role performs as a project manager for application systems design, development, and implementation.


Minimum Qualification(s)

EDUCATION: A bachelor's degree in Epidemiology, Informatics, Business, Finance, Accounting, Public Health, MIS, or Computer Science preferred, or equivalent work-related experience required.

EXPERIENCE: At least 4 years of demonstrated experience and success in professional capacity for information systems, epidemiology, public health, information management, business intelligence, compliance, or data governance required. At least 2 years of experience in roles demonstrating vendor or contract management preferred.

SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED: A master's degree in Epidemiology, Informatics, Business, Finance, Accounting, Public Health, MIS, or Computer Science preferred, and may be substituted for years of experience.

LICENSE: Possession of a valid Hawaii Driver's license preferred.
