Job Description:

What will you work on?

The Associate Product Development Engineer (APDE) will be responsible for driving the technical execution of global toys and games portfolios, from concept through production, and ensuring performance, cost, quality, and schedule adherence.

How will you create impact?

  • Collaborate with Design and Brand teams on generating new concepts, and provide technical and cost assessment
  • Provide mechanical, material, electro-mechanical, and/or mechatronic engineering insights throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Drive prototyping and proof-of-concept builds to de-risk and test new mechanisms, key features, and/or gameplay feasibility
  • Drive productivity by implementing design for manufacturing/assembly up front, detailing the design of components and products
  • Align with cross functional partners on product and performance specifications
  • Be key point of contact with Manufacturing Engineering teams (in Asia, Mexico, EU, etc), and ensure alignment on all project details
  • Lead product review meetings and create action plan for technical deliverables
  • Learn to identify, anticipate, and escalate risks or issues (along with recommended solutions)
  • Partner with responsible departments to deliver projects on-cost, on-spec, on-time
  • Using PLM tool to manage & track key deliverables and proactively resolve future issues to keep the product on track, on cost, and on specification
  • Explore new materials, technology, and manufacturing processes



What are your skills and experience?

  • BS in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with plastics, materials, plush, manufacturing, and/or engineering costs for durable goods preferred.
  • Toy, CPG, fashion, cosmetics, consumer products an asset.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel a plus
  • Ability to drive innovative and cost-effective design solutions
  • Interest working with and/or managing creative professionals (designers and engineers)
  • Demonstrates a "hands-on" team approach to solving problems
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to employ critical thinking and problem solving techniques to approach any/all issues. If unable to resolve certain issues, can demonstrate a willingness to actively engage other support teams to drive towards resolution.
  • Proactive and enthusiastic in approaching challenges, with a solution-oriented mindset
  • Operate with supervision in technical and organizational capacities, and understanding of when to elevate as necessary
  • Ability to take direction and flex execution style based on feedback


The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in California is $60 000 to $80 000 USD Per Annum. The offered pay to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc. Spin Master Inc. is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work only in other states.
