We are hiring for a Project Engineer to join our Van Note-Harvey business and contribute to multi-discipline design projects on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Princeton, NJ. This person will have the opportunity to lead a variety of public and private site development projects across various markets

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of engineering design drawings from schematic design through construction documents (e.g.: engineering reports, technical specifications, etc.) as well as municipal site plan submissions and cost breakdowns for municipal bonding.
  • Meet with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Delegate project workload to Junior Engineers & Drafters; this involves monitoring schedules and budgets to ensure effective completion of projects accordingly.
  • Mentor / guide and support junior-level staff.
  • Complete field inspections, as needed.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.
Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline).
  • 7+ years of professional experience working in Engineering, preferably with design projects.
  • PE in NJ (we will consider candidates who are able to successfully obtain their PE within 6 months of their start date).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Management and/or Project Management experience is preferred.
  • Experience working on greenfield / land development projects.
  • Advanced proficiency with site design functions: site layout, grading, utility design, stormwater management, erosion control, municipal & land-use regulatory approvals, etc.
  • Advanced expertise with stormwater management, especially while utilizing Hydrology and Hydraulics (H&H) modeling tools, is a plus
  • Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.: CADD, project management software, etc.); exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D 2019 (or later) is a plus
  • Proven understanding of relevant NJ regulations (at the State, County, and Municipal level); expertise with stormwater management regulations is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency on standard office software applications: Microsoft Office 365 (especially Word, Excel, and Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, etc.
  • Proven ability to look at the "Big Picture" as well the project goals in order to coordinate various design disciplines accordingly.
  • Proven track record of demonstrating punctuality with consistent attendance.
  • Proven ability to work in an energetic & challenging team environment as a collaborative Team Player, especially while maintaining the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate problem-solving skills, especially when working on a variety of projects while providing solutions to difficult issues.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written); this person will be expected to demonstrate effective writing skills when preparing reports and technical specifications.
