Summersalt is looking to hire a Supply Chain Manager to help lead our Supply Chain efforts by optimizing the flow of merchandise through our Third-Party Distribution Center and to ensure a best-in-class customer experience. This role will oversee the cost and performance of our direct-to-consumer shipments, and focus on reducing our overall shipping spend while also delivering a superior experience to all Summersalt customers. As a member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in directing and managing our outbound shipping flows with our Third-Party Logistics partners and oversee the reverse logistics of our customer returns. You will be tasked with directing and executing new shipping strategies across our three different channels: inbound, outbound, and reverse logistics. Additionally, you will be responsible for leading fulfillment center reporting, including inputting and analyzing data related to shopping, returns, and shipping costs analysis. ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Oversee the partnership with our 3PL to ensure all packages are shipped correctly and efficiently.
  • Review and analyze distribution center processing, shipping and restoration performance metrics and hold the team accountable to agreed targets.
  • Manage and optimize returns management working across vendors and platforms to ensure best in class service and cost.
  • Accountable for meeting fulfillment and carrier KPIs including fill rate, fulfillment center on-time shipping percentage, average click-to-ship time, open return units, in-transit time, costs, etc. to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Analyze and report large data sets for fulfillment and carrier KPIs, identifying trends for opportunities and anomalies.
  • Direct and monitor all outbound shipments to customers optimizing cost, time in transit, and quality of service.
  • Lead the audit of shipping carrier invoices to find pricing errors or cost irregularities including filing carrier claims.
  • Direct the communication and education within the internal team on shipping specifications.
  • Optimize and work within multiple SaaS systems and understand system and data integration.
  • Manage fulfillment center reporting, including data input and analysis and communicate across cross-functional and executive teams.
  • Communicate effectively across cross-functional teams, including logistics, planning, customer service, merchandising, and production.
  • Evaluate carrier cost and time performance to spot areas of concern and areas of improvement.
  • Forecast shipping volumes and costs using historical data and financial plans.
  • Generate continuous cost-saving ideas including optimizing outbound, inbound and returns management.
  • Pilot new projects and initiatives to help move our DTC fulfillment strategy forward
  • Driving cross-network initiatives, ensuring standards compliance and process harmonization.
  • Facilitate wholesale shipments, ensuring compliance with client routing guides and working closely with 3PL and LTL partners.
  • Partner with the product team on inbound inventory receiving.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Bachelor's degree in management, business administration or related study, or five years of related field experience.
  • 5+ years of related experience in direct-to-consumer fulfillment particularly in e-commerce environments. Apparel experience is a plus.
  • Expertise in partnering with 3PL to ensure all parcels are shipped correctly and efficiently.
  • Experience in International shipping including customs and duties.
  • Knowledge of distribution operations (material handling equipment) and merchandise flow.
  • Deep understanding of the services and guidelines of major shipping carriers such as FedEx, DHL, UPS, and regional parcel carriers as well as LTL carriers.
  • Experience in negotiating contracts with parcel carriers and freight brokers.
  • Skilled in using spreadsheet apps: Excel, Google Sheets, Smartsheets.
  • EDI Platform experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge with importing customs, brokers, duties, 321 programs, and duty drawback is a plus.
  • Ability to organize and parse large sets of data from multiple sources
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage complex contracts with parcel carriers and freight brokers.
  • Experience in EDI, Shopify, PLM, Amazon systems are a plus.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects at once with changing priorities.
  • Master systems quickly to efficiently manage shipping operations.
