The Opening

Black & Veatch seeks an experienced Environmental Leader to spearhead the expansion of our Environmental Practice in the western United States. Reporting to the Portfolio Leader of our Environmental Solutions Group, this leadership role focuses on establishing a top-tier environmental practice serving private and governmental clients, with a strong emphasis on California.

This role is pivotal in driving the growth of Environmental Solutions, particularly in the western U.S., with a focus on California. The ideal candidate must possess a deep understanding of the California market, excel in client relations, navigate complex service offerings, regulatory requirements, and effectively integrate these elements to deliver value to clients. Additionally, the role involves fostering a culture of scientific rigor and business acumen to attract top talent and establish a world-class practice.

The Team

Our clients are faced with diverse challenges such as environmental impacts, water scarcity, climate variations, and evolving regulations. To address these issues, we anticipate a growing need for innovative environmental and water resource projects nationwide. This position will support the expansion of services beyond traditional environmental offerings, focusing on areas like resilience, sustainability, and ecosystem preservation. Collaborating within the environmental community, this role aims to achieve scalable solutions.

The leader will collaborate with governmental, energy, technology, commercial, and industrial teams to identify potential clients, develop strategies, and secure projects. This includes aligning BV Solutions with market demands, collaborating across different business sectors, and ensuring client-centric solutions.

Main Responsibilities

This is a hands-on role responsible for driving strategy, implementing growth campaigns, and overseeing awarded projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Championing Growth Opportunities
  • Evaluating market potential and fostering alliances
  • Developing and executing growth initiatives
  • Driving sales enablement and prioritizing client-focused services
  • Assessing portfolio composition to meet evolving client needs
  • Managing sales funnel and profitability
  • Identifying and implementing efficient delivery mechanisms
