Responsibility Summary:
Autonomously lead research planning and design for multidisciplinary teams of associates and leaders in pursuit of discovery and innovation in enterprise and divisional efforts.
Support work teams to achieve clear problem statement definition, define big ideas and capabilities, and pressure-test ideas through design research and test and learn methodologies.
Effectively communicates insights, both written and verbal, and influences business partners decision making by providing thought leadership on how insights impact desired business outcomes and roadmaps, strategic opportunities, and firm priorities.
Recommends creative research approaches to uncover user needs and insights that help business areas within the firm solve novel and complex problems for the enterprise.
Leads the execution and synthesis of user research that is action-oriented and supports the entire design process, including clear problem statement definition, initial discovery work, pressure-testing ideas and prototypes with users as well as test and learn methodologies.
Demonstrate agility in ambiguous and complex circumstances to achieve the desired outcome.
Exercises strong critical thinking and sound judgment while independently making decisions within division level projects. In doing so, the design researcher:
Evaluates a range of potential capabilities and options to achieve the projects desired outcome.
Identifies and mitigates risks associated with designed experiences delivering on user needs and business outcome.
Excellent in managing detailed project tasks, resources, and coordinating the efforts of internal and external parties necessary to see successful project completion including external research vendors.
Identify internal subject matter experts, business owners, and those skilled in multiple business process disciplines necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
Bachelor's degree in a field of Design, Science, or Engineering or equivalent discipline g. Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Instructional Design, Computer Science, Digital or Interactive Media, Communications, Behavioral Science, Psychology, Anthropology
5+ years of progressive design and design research
Financial services experience strongly preferred Advanced skills in the design research discipline and a generalist or better in other design disciplines to enable empathy building with users and advancement of developed prototypes and experiences.
Ability to quickly engage and building trusting relationship to advance the work of design and design research.
Expertise in design and design research tools and systems thinking

Comprehensive Research & Impactful Insight Generation:
Develop a deep understanding of the business needs and identify opportunities for impactful support through user research and testing methodologies.
High degree of proficiency in developing innovative and creative research approaches to uncover user needs and insights that help business areas within the firm solve novel and complex problems for the enterprise.
Problem Solving:
Leverage existing and create new human-centered, problem-solving frameworks in response to the needs of the problem.
Storytelling & Communication:
Employ creative storytelling abilities to communicate research findings in a manner that provokes thought and emotion, making complex insights accessible and engaging through writing, visuals, verbal communication, stories, videos, experiences, and exhibits.
Insights Synthesis:
Ability to integrate insights from various disciplines (e.g., psychology, anthropology, economics) to create a more holistic understanding of user behaviors and market trends.
Strengthening decision-making processes by grounding recommendations in solid research findings. This skill involves translating insights into persuasive arguments that can support strategic business decisions, ensuring that initiatives are backed by empirical evidence.
