Job Summary:

Performs installation, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance on communications and Telecommunication systems including phone switches, local/wide area, voice/data networks, fiber optic networks, PSTN data systems, Wireless Networks, Microwave systems, Mobile radio systems, and Smart Grid Technologies.

Level of Responsibility:

Complex responsibilities related to primary focus of job area. Uses best practices and in-depth business knowledge to solve complex problems and improve products or services. May adapt procedures, processes and techniques to meet the more complex requirements of position.

Essential Functions:


• May be required to assist in the training and development of other Telecommunications Techs.


• May lead some Projects depending on scope and requirements including the Team Members assigned to the project.


• Responsible for implementing Safe Operating Practices.


• Troubleshoots and solves complex problems and develops solutions that call for original approach based on thorough and comprehensive knowledge and expertise.


• Uses best practices and knowledge of business and technology issues to improve the team's work processes.


• Performs equipment inspections, special testing, and maintenance.


• Tunes, adjusts and makes operational checks on equipment.


• Verifies and installs equipment and cabling in accordance with designs.


• Maintains Telecommunication data and records as required.


• Assists with network design.


• Coordinates work with customer and internal/external service providers.


• Termination and testing of Fiber Optic Networks.


• All other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:


• May be required to work non-standard work schedules to include on-call, call-outs, weekends and holidays.


• May be exposed to stressful and hazardous conditions and inclement weather.


• May require extensive travel, by car, across the company footprint.


• Some overnight travel required may be required.


• May require the ability to climb in structures such as radio and microwave towers.


• Must have or obtain all required certifications.


• May lift up to 50lbs if necessary
