The Headlines:

This role is a contributor to the Barley Program. The Barley Program has a rich 75-year heritage of securing the supply of high-quality malt barley for our company. In the role of Process Safety Lead - Barley Elevators based in Huntley, Montana or Burley, Idaho you will be part of the Barley Program Leadership Team. You will be responsible for leading and supporting comprehensive safety, industrial hygiene, and preventative maintenance programs for the network of five barley facilities across Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana. As part of a tight knit team, you will also provide local operational assistance which will create insights into broader team safety needs.

Under the direction of the Sr. Category Manager, Barley Program, this person will aid in providing direction and execute on actions that set us on a path beyond compliance with OSHA and General Industry Standards. This is accomplished by leading and fostering a Great Safety Culture by driving employee involvement, worksite analysis, hazard prevention & control, and safety & health training. It is also accomplished by collaborating with site leads to develop preventive measures for controlling potential occupational health and safety employee injuries and illnesses, property damage, and industrial hygiene exposures. In this role you will lead program development and analysis, assess risk, prioritize projects, and inspect for compliance with program requirements. And you will get to do these things while working with other great people in beautiful places across our Rocky Mountain western network.

The Responsibilities:

This role supports incident investigations, documentation, and extension of learnings for incidents, near misses, and safe catches. Conducts site safety and housekeeping inspections several times per year across all elevator locations. You will support the development, implementation and maintenance of health and safety programs, policies, procedures, and elements. Always ensures compliance with safety codes and regulations and helps drive safety culture beyond compliance by leveraging partnership with OSHA VPP and OSHA VPPPA. Partner with corporate health and safety in the implementation of identified critical health and safety initiatives. Maintains safety scorecards and leads annual elevator safety initiatives. Assists elevator operations Supervisors with the development and review of preventative maintenance programs. Manages the elevator operations project maintenance budget along with appropriate project follow up and status updates. Supports departmental capital acquisition request and planning processes throughout the year. You should expect to travel a minimum of one week per month, six to eight months of the year, across our barley network in the Rocky Mountain West and to company corporate locations. A company vehicle is provided as part of this position. This role also supports local Huntley, Montana grain operations during times of need with assistance to complete tasks throughout the year, which may be up to 20% of the role's time.

The Other Qualifications:

You have a bachelor's degree in manufacturing or agriculture OR equivalent experience (4+ years) in the field of Manufacturing or agricultural processing leading and improving safety and health performance and regulatory compliance. You have at least 5- 8 years experience in manufacturing and agriculture. You love a challenge. You complete complex projects quickly and adeptly with your understanding of the business priorities.
