The AWS Organizations team is looking for a Software Development Engineer with a passion for building highly scalable, well architected services to enable some of AWS's largest customers to operate in AWS's most specialized regions.

This includes defining the customer experience for account creation, governance, and financial management. Our mission is to make multiple accounts easier to manage than a single account.

Key job responsibilities

  • Help balance customer requirements with team requirements
  • Make appropriate tradeoffs, reuse where possible, and are judicious about introducing dependencies
  • Train new teammates on how your team's software is constructed, how it operates, how security it is, and how it fits into the bigger picture
  • Work to resolve the root cause of complex problems
  • Ownership of a large or significant set of components, a midsize application, or service
A day in the life

A day in the life of a Software Development Engineer (SDE) on the AWS Organization team focuses on operational excellence, constructively identifying problems and proposing solutions.

You help your team evolve by actively participating in the code review process, design discussions, team planning, and ticket/metric/COE reviews.

SDEs will also mentor and help to develop others and interview for the team.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of noninternship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of noninternship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets.

The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Amazon is a total compensation company.

Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
