The University of Miami is looking for a talented and motivated individual to join its growing Office of Enterprise Project Management. The Sr. Project Manager will enjoy a high degree of organizational visibility and will have accountability and responsibility for cross-functional project planning, leadership, and success. The ePMO is responsible for the cross-functional management of selected critical programs and projects. This group of portfolio, program, and project management professionals ensures the successful definition, development, and delivery of projects, adhering to critical processes, standards, and best practices, to provide on-time delivery and significant value to our customers and patients.

The Sr. Project Manager will plan, organize, and implement the ePMO's technical projects and adopt system and operational process improvements in partnership with cross-functional teams to ensure that projects and the program deliver the intended value to customers. The Sr. Project Manager has the responsibility of managing project expectations with IT team members and other key stakeholders, defining the project's scope and deliverables, communicating the functional requirements and dependencies to the IT team members, developing the plan, executing it, and creating relevant documentation to track progress.

The Sr. Project Manager will build relationships with IT leadership and achieve a strong understanding of the department's function, initiatives, and projects, how business needs will be translated to workflows as well as the team's skill sets and expertise. The Sr. Project Manager may be dedicated to a specific IT department or be a generalist and flexible to provide support across multiple departments.

The ideal candidate will be organized, process-oriented, and give meticulous attention to detail. The candidate will be adept in applying project management principles and frameworks and comfortable in managing a team along a project's full life cycle. The candidate will be able to create a detailed plan of the technical requirements as well as zoom out and understand the broader objective and its interdependencies. The Sr. Project Manager will lend insight and support the portfolio and program managers in planning and reporting on projects within the portfolio.

  • Leads, manages, coordinates, and reports on multiple projects, maintaining organizational standards of satisfaction, quality, and performance.
  • Assembles and drives cross-functional project teams identifies resources needed and develops detailed project plans and schedules to ensure on-time completion of projects.
  • Communicates frequently with team members and senior business stakeholders regarding project status and identifies and resolves project problems, issues, and risks; reports on mitigating steps and actions taken to ensure timely deliverables, project success, and quality. Identifies when issues or risks require escalation to senior leadership and proactively communicates potential impact on the overall project.
  • Provides weekly status reports highlighting component and overall project health, accomplishments, plans, and issues to project team members and leadership.
  • Ensures consistent project management processes and tools are employed in alignment with ePMO best practices, as well as constantly identifies continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Facilitates decision-making between project team members around technical and non-technical issues related to the project.
  • Partners with IT team members and project sponsors to deliver the technical components of the project as well as the business readiness activities required to prepare internal business groups and external customers for the project deliverables.
  • Cultivates inter-departmental relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven process
  • Proven experience managing expectations and managing cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements to deliver projects more efficiently
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • Confident team leader and consensus builder with strong motivational skills
  • Adept in problem-solving and resolving conflict
  • Able to manage internal customer relationships and expectations, through negotiation and collaboration
  • Demonstrated use of sound and proven program/project management practices and tools, including excellent MS Office skills (ServiceNow preferred)
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Experience in an Agile/Scrum is highly desired.
  • Certifications, Licenses and Training PMI Project Management Professional (PMP), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), Certified Scrum Master (CSM) preferred
  • Proficient with, or able to quickly become proficient with, a range of general and specialized applications, software, and hardware used in the healthcare industry
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly ambiguous environment, and anticipate the needs of a changing landscape
  • Thorough knowledge and related work experience in the project management process and framework, including Lean, Waterfall and Agile methodology, as well as Project Delivery Framework and SDLC.
  • Ability to understand both technical and business vision and communicate it to both technical and non-technical partners
  • Able to cultivate strong inter- and intra-departmental relationships that promote a positive, execution-focused work environment
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic, who sets high standards for self and others and demonstrates enthusiasm for excellence
  • Experience with EPIC applications or EPIC certified
  • Experience with student information systems (SIS), ERP implementation
  • Clinical background or experience with clinical workflows
  • Experience in information systems infrastructure, cyber security, or systems architecture
  • Experience in new product introduction lifecycles that include physical hardware as well as embedded or application software

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience in project/program management in IT, education or other related functions/fields.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles.
  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
  • Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.
  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
