Position Overview

The Asphalt Milling Machine Operator is responsible for milling streets, highways, and parking lots. This role includes operating and maintaining the equipment, as well as ensuring proper cleaning for each shift. The career field for this role includes various positions such as Equipment Operator, Roller Operator, Motor Grader Operator, Backhoe Operator, and more.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Operate the milling machine to achieve specified project results
  • Remove existing asphalt pavement to improve rideability and cross slope
  • Utilize automatic grade control system for precision
  • Maintain equipment and ensure safe working conditions
  • Train other crew members
  • Perform daily maintenance tasks and notify supervisor of any issues

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a High School diploma or equivalent, along with related experience. The ability to pass pre-employment screenings and adhere to safety requirements is necessary.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Knowledge of construction equipment operation
  • Understanding of construction materials and tools
  • Ability to follow safety precautions and guidelines
  • Effective communication skills
