POSITION DUTIES

The Health Occupations Investigator Supervisor performs supervisory work in the\r
conducting of investigations of physical therapy practitioners licensed and regulated by\r
the Maryland Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. The Health Occupations\r
Investigator Supervisor supervises lower-level Health Occupations Investigators. The main purpose for this position is the responsibility of the day-to-day operational management of\r
complaints, investigations, discipline, and compliance job duties.\r
The Health Occupations Investigator Supervisor assigns themselves to the most\r
sensitive and complex investigations related to allegations of Maryland Physical\r
Therapy Act violations by licensed physical therapy practitioners. The Health Occupations\r
Investigator Supervisor responds to complaint submissions, reviews complaint\r
submissions to verify jurisdiction relevance, assigns complaints to lower-level Health\r
Occupations Investigators, reviews investigation reports, approves the investigators'\r
work, and may be asked to testify. The Health Occupations Investigator Supervisor\r
possesses knowledge of modern interviewing and investigative techniques as well as\r
legal processes.\r
The Health Occupations Investigator Supervisor serves as the Board's Public Information Act (PIA) primary\r
contact and ensures compliance with the Public Information Act (PIA) Maryland\r
Department of Health Policy and responds to Public Information Act (PIA) inquiries. Has\r
advanced knowledge of the Maryland Physical Therapy Act, the Health Insurance\r
Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Public Information Act (PIA), and the\r
Freedom of Information Act to carry out and ensure compliance with statutory mandates.\r
The Health Occupations Investigator Supervisor demonstrates independent judgment,\r
leadership qualities, and high ethical standards. Project management skills ensure\r
operational quality control and that processes and procedures are successful.\r
Possesses strong problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking skills, with exemplary\r
detail-oriented organizational skills. Communication skills and the ability to respond to\r
critical conversations are a plus. Ensures Board staff comply with security, HIPAA, PIA,\r
mandatory continuing education, public notices, and other procedural requirements of\r
the State of Maryland and the Maryland Department of Health.\r
The Health Occupations Investigator Supervisor collaborates with the Board staff team\r
to ensure excellent communication in the areas of licensure, continuing education, dry\r
needling, record management and retention, and procurement project requirements.\r
Serves as liaison to the Attorney General's Office, and the Federation of State Boards\r
of Physical Therapy (FSBPT). This position is responsible to the Executive Director.\r

This position is eligible for hybrid telework (40% 2-days weekly) which is subject to approval from the supervisor.\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:�Eight years of experience conducting criminal investigations, including the preparation of analyses and reports for use in legal proceedings.\r
Notes:�\r
1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree in the field of criminal justice, criminology, law enforcement or an allied health field, (such as nursing, pharmacy, psychology, social work, nutrition, dietetics, speech pathology, audiology) from an accredited college or university and four years of experience conducting criminal investigations, including the preparation of analyses and reports for use in legal proceedings for the required experience.\r
2.�Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military�service experience as a commissioned officer in�Investigator, Police and�Intelligence�Specialist�classifications or Investigator, Police and�Intelligence�specialty codes in the criminal�investigation field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification may be required to have daily use of a motor vehicle while on official State business. Standard mileage allowance will be paid for use of a privately owned vehicle.\r
