Position Summary:

The Activity Therapy Assistant is responsible for engaging patients in therapeutic interventions. The RA will plan, direct, coordinate and implement Activity Therapy interventions for assigned program. As a part of the interdisciplinary treatment team, the Activity Assistant will be involved with identifying individualized treatment goals and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • 1. Ensure timely documentation of interventions and ensure interventions are based on the patient's plan of care.
  • 2. Apply appropriate crisis intervention techniques, as required.
  • 3. Assist patients in achieving their optimum level of independent functioning.
  • 4. Document services rendered in accordance with established criteria.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Occupational, Art, Music, or Activity therapy, humanities, social work or related therapeutic discipline, or a Master's degree in Art Therapy, preferred.

Experience: One (1) year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure: Certification or licensure by state and/or national governing body in of the following areas: art, occupational, Activity, or music therapy preferred.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR Certification and Handle with Care/ Verbal De-escalation prior to working directly with patients and within 90 days of employment. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
