Vaco Financial is currently assisting a growing, private client of ours in Charlottesville, VA with its search for a Corporate Controller.

This role will report to the CFO, manage the accounting staff, and work closely with Executive leadership.

The company has a hybrid work schedule, and this role will be working onsite in the office 2-3 days a week.

The Controller will be the driving force behind the company's financial operations, financial reporting, and play a significant role in financial planning and analysis. As the leader of the accounting team, the Controller will develop new accounting processes and procedures which drive efficiency and accuracy across multiple business units. As a participant in the Company Management team, the controller will collaborate with all company divisions in creating budgets, financial metrics, and other reporting for internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

* Assist in the preparation of and monitor the company's actual performance against the current budget and business plan.

* Preparing cash flow statements and assessing ongoing working capital metrics and liquidity needs.

* Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process to ensure efficiency and accuracy, including producing consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP

* Insure timely billing and invoicing of all revenue and proper accounting treatment as per the company policy on revenue recognition.

* Monitor and maintain all subsidiary ledgers for customer activities and ensure timely collection. `

* Insure timely reporting of monthly financial information for the executive staff and the Board of Directors. Ensure timely reporting of all taxes with the appropriate authorities.

* Interfacing with external auditors as well as providing PBC information and schedules.

* Responsible for establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls and processes to ensure effective control and reporting in accordance with company guidelines and US GAAP.

* Work with COO on contracts management and workflow process related to various revenue streams

* Identify and lead initiatives to automate and streamline accounting operations.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA required

* 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity

* Solid operational and technical accounting skills with demonstrated ASC 606 / revenue recognition and consolidation experience preferred

* Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (GAAP)
