Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Infection Prevention Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our infection control program, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and quality care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement evidence-based clinical practices to prevent and control infections in patients and healthcare workers.
  • Conduct surveillance and investigation of healthcare-associated infections, and develop strategies to reduce their occurrence.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement infection control policies and procedures.
  • Provide education and training to healthcare staff on infection control best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest infection control research and guidelines, and apply this knowledge to inform practice.
Requirements
  • 3 years of relevant experience in infection control or a related field.
  • One of the following qualifications: Graduate of an accredited nursing program, Bachelor's of Sciences in Nursing, Medical tech program (MT - ASCP), or Masters in Public Health.
  • Preferred qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field, 3 years recent infection control experience in an acute care facility, Masters preparation, clinical experience in critical care, emergency or perioperative fields, certification in Infection Control (CIC), and competency in Microsoft Office.
Working Conditions

This is a sedentary role that requires frequent walking throughout the healthcare facility. The job involves extensive use of desktop computers and occasional travel to attend meetings and clinic rounds.
