To attain the maximum annual salary, employee must meet all minimum qualifications plus:

Job Description:

The Corporate Solutions (CS) Business Development Manager (BDM) develops, maintains and supervises positive, long-term relationships with business and industry representatives and provides leadership to industry sector partnerships, nonprofits and key stakeholders. They identify grants and other funding partnership opportunities with community and economic development partners in order to develop and sell customized training projects to address client needs. They will utilize a consultative sales approach and a strategic sales plan that reflects priority industries and employers.

This role negotiates, sells, writes and manages customized training proposals and contracts including initiating and managing grant applications and budget development. The position will work with the CS Program Manager and CS Fulfillment Coordinator to create and maintain all training revenue/expense budgets, reports, client contracts and processes relating to contract training and programs. In addition, the BDM will assist this team with advertising, vetting, interviewing, and hiring CS subject matter experts as trainers/consultants to ensure the highest quality program delivery and customer satisfaction.

The BDM assists the Executive Director of Corporate Solutions (ED) with the daily departmental and program oversight including standard operating procedure development and implementation to meet service needs. This role assists the ED with maintaining all CS Customer Relationship Management systems including client, trainer and curriculum databases and serves as the backup to the Executive Director of Corporate Solutions when needed. This role also engages in professional and personal skill development activities as they pertain to job responsibilities. Work hours may include evenings, weekends or holidays depending on the company served, contract schedule, special events, deadline requirements or other duties as assigned.

Corporate Solutions Administration Oversight:

  • Collaborates with the Executive Director on development, implementation and management of all CS standard operating procedures, customer relationship management systems and the curriculum database.
  • Collaborates on outreach, sales plans, strategy, goals and assessment of all CS programs. Operationalizes these plans to meet the needs of NOCO workforce and economic development.
  • Serves as back up to the Executive Director, when needed.

Business Development, Proposal & Grant Development & Contract Selling:

  • Initiates and manages CS business development and account management for contracted training.
  • Identifies, scopes, and prioritizes sales prospects in the NoCo region. Focuses on direct client interaction (primarily outside sales) to sell customized training contracts in business and industry settings. Utilizes a consultative sales approach aligned with a regional strategic plan and targets priority industries to meet sales targets.
  • Vets, develops and writes Skill Advance Grants and other state/federal grants including client business development, relationship interaction and management, application and budget development.
  • Develops contract training proposals including writing, pricing, negotiating and closing.
  • Collaborates and delegates the execution of all aspects of delivering and fulfilling trainings to the CS fulfillment team including budgets, contracts and processes.
  • Gathers information for additional funding opportunities to support CS and college programming.
  • Collaborates with the CS team and other college staff to cross-sell and cross-refer opportunities.
  • Provides regular reports and updates on business development activities, pipeline status and project outcomes.

Partnership Development & Relationship Networking:

  • Builds and maintains strong partnerships with economic development entities, chamber organizations and other workforce development agencies to ensure alignment and execution of collaborative workforce strategies.
  • Actively interacts with Northern Colorado businesses and industries to create appropriate development/training programs.
  • Develops and manages database of employers and industry representatives, trainers and contracts and maintains regular communication through appropriate channels.
  • Represents Aims' interests and expertise in workforce development at community events, conferences, committees, boards and networking functions.

Strategy Development:

  • Gathers labor market information, talent demand and skill requirements and translates data into meaningful information to create workforce development strategies.
  • Prioritizes segments of the NOCO economic landscape for development.
  • Continually promotes community education and awareness related to training and employment issues. Stays informed about industry trends and best practices in workforce development to Positions Aims as the preferred community college for tailored corporate training.
  • Works closely with marketing, outreach partners, college colleagues, community liaisons and the ED of Corporate Solutions to organize and execute outreach and sales strategies.
