Summary / Role Purpose

As the Corporate Counsel – Contracts, Licensing & IP in the Legal, IP and Risk department ("LIR") at Ansys, the candidate will be an experienced attorney collaborating across the company to provide legal advice, counsel and support for software/technology agreements, OEM agreements, license agreements, consulting agreements, collaboration agreements, partnership agreements, license compliance, products, open-source software, IP management, and IP protection.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate the terms of various agreements, including software/technology agreements, collaboration agreements, OEM agreements, and partnership agreements
  • Assist with protecting our software and licensing
  • Support and provide advice on license compliance matters
  • Support the company's IP protection strategies

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • JD degree
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with drafting and negotiating various types of license agreements and other agreements, including software/technology license agreements

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience with open-source software compliance issues
  • Experience with license compliance issues, including license breaches, copyright infringements, and software pirating
  • Experience protecting inventions and managing patent prosecution in the software area
  • Registered patent attorney with experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the software area
