POSITION DUTIES

Employee is responsible for providing a wide variety of respiratory care services, including diagnostic and direct patient care duties throughout the hospital. Must possess a wide knowledge base of mechanical ventilation. Must be capable of using independent judgment to deliver a wide range of respiratory care services in the safest and most effective technique possible. Actively participates in all aspects of the patients care via a team-collaborative effort utilized in order to best maintain a healing environment and provide the highest quality of care possible.\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:�� Determined by the Maryland State Board of Physicians under the licensing requirements for a Respiratory Care Practitioner.\r
Experience: One year of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. \r
Note:�Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military�service experience as a commissioned officer in Respiratory�Specialist classifications or�Respiratory�Therapy specialty�codes in the Respiratory�Therapy�field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.�\r

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner from the Maryland State Board of Physicians, 4201 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland \r
2. Employees in this classification are required to successfully complete and maintain current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. \r

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1.�Candidates for this classification may be given a medical examination prior to appointment to determine their ability to perform the work of the position.\r
2.�Employees in this classification may be required to provide the facility with a telephone number at which they can be reached.\r
3.�Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in�accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations , Testing for Illegal�Use of Drugs.\r
