Job Description

MedStar Health is currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's Medical Surgical Specialty Units. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care of patients from admission through discharge.

Position Summary:
Professional care provider who assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the nursing care of patients from admission through discharge. Coordinates care delivery with various members of the interdisciplinary team.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Associates degree from an accredited School of nursing required. BSN enrollment required within 6 months of start date and completion within 3 years.

Experience: 1 year of RN experience required.

License/Certifications: DC Registered Nurse License required; CPR Certification required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficient in verbal and written communication, basic math, and computer skills.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to achieving department goals and adhere to policies and quality standards.
  • Analyze patient information efficiently and leverage technology.
  • Independently provide relationship-based care focusing on patient experience.
  • Identify and analyze complex patient problems and plan appropriate interventions.
  • Incorporate evidence-based practice into patient care delivery.
  • Communicate clinical concerns to the interdisciplinary team in a timely manner.
  • Initiate and monitor discharge planning activities.
  • Identify resources for professional growth and commit to lifelong learning.
