Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of Accounting/Facility Operations, the Facilities Technician is responsible for performing and overseeing the upkeep of all facilities common areas and grounds. Driving vehicles to perform various errands as needed, ordering office supplies and logging into various computer programs to process purchase order, document work performed, and maintain schedules for ongoing preventive maintenance.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Overseeing all maintenance of the building; both preventive maintenance, grounds and repair/renovations. Contacting vendors, negotiating and overseeing all work to be done.
  • Applies practical knowledge of all building operating systems such as HVAC, security and sprinkler systems, fire alarms, plumbing, heating electrical and any other related building systems.
  • Performs physical activities as needed such as: lifting, carrying, climbing ladders, inspecting all areas of facility and other necessary physical duties.
  • Performing janitorial duties for emergency situations e.g. spills, accidents in bathrooms, kitchens.
  • Research and negotiating facility upkeep, maintenance, renovation and restoration by applying aptitude and knowledge of building systems.
  • Ordering all office supplies which consist of researching, negotiating, ordering, tracking and delivering.
  • Making daily trips to the post office to pick up mail.
  • Assisting with moving and assembling furniture.
  • Driving vehicles and completing various errands which includes going to the airport to pick-up candidates for interviews.
  • Responds to emergency situations with sound judgment and in a prompt manner.
  • Updates computer records/dates for preventive maintenance work performed, and revises schedules for future maintenance
  • Provides support to external contracting personnel to promptly solve problems and complaints.
  • Tracking all orders on POs using SAP program.
  • Researching and negotiating with various vendors to perform services.
Qualifications

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Prior general office and maintenance experience required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be certified to use of forklifts. Provides support to external contracting personnel to promptly solve problems and complaints.
  • Ability to follow through on issues, make informed decisions that comply with policies and procedures, multi-task and problem solve to completion with multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to interface professionally with executive management, and external sources.
  • Ability to be confidential at all times.
  • Possess intermediate to advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Adhere and support KLS Martins quality and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to retrieve and interpret documentation.
