The Apple Service Engineering (ASE) team builds and provides systems and infrastructure that power Apple's services (such as iCloud, iTunes, Siri, and Maps). If you love designing, engineering, and running systems that will help millions of customers, then this is the place for you Apple Service Engineering (ASE)'s Compute team is seeking an experienced software engineer to build and enhance internal cloud infrastructure offerings and interrelated services to leverage and support Apple technologies. You will work on and be responsible for core components of the platform. You will partner with internal application teams to understand their requirements and co-design operating system features and datacenter infrastructure to meet your needs.

Software engineer with experience in infrastructure, expected to own significant features from concept to production, involving multi-functional teams

Approach complex issues with creativity, ready to take risks and course-correct effectively to impact the success of the platform

Partner with SRE to triage, investigate, and remediate production issues

Work with teams across Apple to develop features and functionality to meet their infrastructure needs
Minimum Qualifications
2+ years of software design and development experience in API-based cloud service orchestration, with an emphasis on "infrastructure-as-a-service" (compute, storage and network virtualization) as a plus
Java proficiency with a track record of designing and developing scalable web API-based request processing systems (e.g. Spring, Kafka)
Familiarity with security concepts ( e.g. process isolation, encryption, access control ) or storage solutions (e.g. iSCSI, NFS, cluster file systems) or networking concepts (e.g. SDN, VXLAN, VPC networking, tap devices, multi queue)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical collaborators
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in an engineering-related field, or equivalent related experience
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900 and $256,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
