Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

TranSystems is looking for a CAD Tech with a basic operational understanding of computer graphics and drafting.

General Responsibilities:

  • Prepare engineering exhibits and plan sheets using AutoCAD and Microstation for transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Review engineering plans for compliance with agency standards.
  • Will learn proficiency in operation of computer-aided drafting and design input station.
  • Assignments of increasing difficulty will be submitted as proficiency is increased.
  • Understand and follow the company's standard CAD procedures for layers/levels, line styles, etc., and standard drawing procedures for sheet layout.
  • Individual is flexible and may work with numerous project teams to help in project completion.
  • Maintain neat and orderly work area that will allow access to project information to other team members.
  • This position will require limited travel to offices and client sites within their respective area, using various modes of transportation including automobile and airline.
Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

  • Associates Degree in related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering design plans, manuals, reports and guidelines
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
  • Seeks opportunities to develop the ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Basic understanding of Engineering and Architectural Scales.
  • Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
  • Task Management - Coordinates tasks; Communicates changes and progress to supervisor or Project Manager; Completes tasks on time and within budget.
  • Team Work - Balances team and individual responsibilities.
  • Quality Management - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Dependability - Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Keeps commitments.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications; establishing professional networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

What we'd prefer for you to bring to our firm:

  • Pursuing a bachelors degree in civil engineering is a plus
  • Knowledge of Civil 3D preferred.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam preferred
  • Understanding and knowledge of Caltrans CADD Users Manual, Plans Preparation Manual, Standard Plans, Highway Design Manual and District 6 policies is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of related experience.
  • Ethics - Treats people with respect; works with integrity and ethically.
  • Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrives at meetings and appointments on time.

This compensation range is specific to the State of California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; internal peer equity; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At TranSystems, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $25 - $30 per hour.
