Lets do this Lets change the world In this role you will lead communication strategy and implementation from Amgens global headquarters for the Southern California, Los Angeles and Ventura County areas. The Director, Corporate Affairs, Southern California will be responsible for working across functions to serve as the face of Amgen to government, media, community and employee stakeholders.

This position reports to the Executive Director, Corporate Affairs and must live within regular commuting distance to Thousand Oaks, CA. This role can be flexible with some time working hybrid however easy access to campus is key to this role.

Responsibilities:

Build and execute engagement plans with local organizations and community groups, media and government Develop and enhance relationships with key external and internal stakeholders across the organization Serve as strategic communications partner for local and relevant corporate news Lead local communications strategies and sitewide communications for Amgens global headquarters Act as a company spokesperson; develop communications and media materials as appropriate Build and execute local philanthropic communications strategy for the Amgen Foundation Play a leading role in the reimagination of hybrid work at Amgens global headquarters Serve as a brand ambassador, including guidance for the visitor center content and brand applications planned for the global headquarters Partner with other Site Functions (e.g. Global Facility Operations, EHSS, HR, D&IB, Legal and Digital Technology and Innovation (DTI), Security) Plan and lead VIP and business critical tours of ATO Develop on site presence and maintain a network of contacts who work on site and leverage to enable problem solving. Create, format and send ATO site communications including onsite event invitations, site newsletters, site/local updates, etc. Manage ATO digital signage process and postings Manage ATO MyAmgen HUB, create and post custom content Serve as Corporate Affairs delegate on ATO Incident Management Team Consistent with Amgen's values, serve as a culture champion Be committed to quality and excellence; self-starter and team player Exhibit excellent writing and interpersonal skills WinWhat we expect of you We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. Basic Qualifications: Doctorate degree and 4 years of communications or public relations experienceOr Masters degree and 8 years of communications or public relations experienceOr Bachelors degree and 10 years of communications or public relations experience In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have at least 4 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above Preferred Qualifications: 10-15 years of experience within public relations or digital communications, ideally a mix of agency and corporate experience Deep understanding of the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry and communications environment (US required, major markets preferred) Demonstrated skills in delivering communications strategies and results in a complex organization Experience speaking with media and/or government officials, including around issues management Understanding of corporate reputation and how to incorporate data into communications decisions Ability to prioritize resources and effectively communicate with senior leadership Knowledge of social media and digital communications strategy; employee communications; issues management and internal communications Appreciation of nuanced, regulated and confidential information Strong written, spoken and interpersonal communication skills with attention to detail; polished, poised presenter Ability to productively navigate a challenging and dynamic environment Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and planning skills Collaboratively work with a diverse group of people and backgrounds Entrepreneurial spirit, enthusiasm and creativity ThriveWhat you can expect of us As we work to develop treatments that take care of others, we also work to care for our teammates professional and personal growth and well-being. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
